Apple Donuts
Easier than traditional donuts but just as delicious, this creative fall treat features fresh apples fried in a donut-like batter and coated in cinnamon-sugar for a delightful twist on a classic.

Ingredients
- 2 Simple Truth Organic™ Gala Apples, cored and sliced into donut-shaped rings
- 1 cup Simple Truth Organic™ Unbleached All-Purpose Flour
- 1⁄4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tbsp. plus 1-2 tsp. Simple Truth Organic™ Ground Saigon Cinnamon, divided
- 2 tbsp. white granulated sugar, divided
- 3⁄4 cup Simple Truth™ Dairy Free Vanilla Almond Milk, plus more to thin batter, if needed
- 1⁄2 cup Simple Truth Organic™ Canola Oil
- 1⁄2 cup Simple Truth Organic™ Light Brown Sugar
Directions
- In large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon white sugar, baking powder and 1-2 teaspoons cinnamon.
- Stir in vanilla almond milk. If the batter is too thick, add a few more tablespoons milk.
- In a deep frying pan, heat the canola oil to 180˚C (350°F).
- Dip both sides of each apple slice in the batter to evenly coat.
- Carefully lay doughnuts into the canola oil. Fry a few minutes on each side, until golden brown.
- Meanwhile, combine light brown sugar, 1 tablespoon white sugar and 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon.
- Gently remove fried apples and blot with a paper towel. Place fried apples in cinnamon-sugar topping and flip to coat.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
