A Sham-rockin' Time for the Whole Family!

Two kids making crafts for St. Patrick's Day

Gather the wee ones this March 17 to make the most of this fun-filled holiday, family-style! Here are a few happy-go-lucky ideas all of your little leprechauns will love:

Find a Parade

Embrace the St. Paddy's Day spirit by finding a parade in your community! Dress the family in green from head to toe-leprechaun hats optional-and create new memories together. You might want to pack a few snacks in case someone gets hungry…green ones, of course! Granny Smith apples or celery sticks with peanut butter are great on-the-go options.

Make a Green Treat Together

Decorate shamrock-shaped cookies with green frosting and sprinkles. Slice-and-bake sugar cookies are great if you don't want to fuss with homemade. Set up a sundae bar to make sundaes with green mint ice cream and an assortment of toppings. Find a recipe for green punch and toast to the luck o' the Irish. Play some traditional Celtic music to help set the mood.

Cook a St. Patrick's Day Dinner Together

Make corned beef with cabbage and Irish soda bread. Get the whole family involved by assigning tasks so everyone feels included. Set the table with a green tablecloth or shamrock-adorned paper napkins and plates. When the feast is served, go around the table and take turns wishing one another good luck. You can even ask the kids what makes them feel lucky. Chances are, the family time together will be one of those things.
